It seems as if this topic will never go away. Once we think we have pushed the lunatics into the corner where they belong, another one pops up. In this case it's not as much of a new one as it is the dispatch of an older one who is finally getting his due. Lt. Col. Terrence Lakin has pleaded guilty to disobeying a direct order because he says that he believes that the President of the United States of America is not a citizen and that he is therefore not bound to follow his orders. He is about to find out how wrong he is. He (in military terms) screwed the pooch and he'll pay for doing so.
True, he'll probably do little if any prison time (and that is a mis-carriage of justice because he deserves hard time), but the surprising thing is that there are still fools in the public and even here on Newsvine who are willing to defend him and his absurd premise. They are known as "Birthers" and despite all of the evidence against their silly contentions and the complete lack of evidence to support their ideas, they still persist. They are seemingly immune to the scorn of even the most passionate of those on the right who would jump at the chance to dis-credit this President. Logic and commonsense does not work on them and never has. They seem to have a form of OCD (Obsessive compulsive Disorder) that compels them to ignore the obvious truth. Barack Hussein Obama was born in Hawaii. That's the truth. However, it seems as if it's a truth they never believe.
So, how about you? Are you a Birther? Do you honestly think that Barack Obama was born in Hawaii or Kenya or somewhere else? Do you honestly think he is qualified by birth to be the President of the United States of America, or not?
If you think he is a real American, do you think there will always be those who don't believe it, much like there are JFK conspiracy theorists or those who think the Philadelphia Experiment was real or that the Earth is flat or that men really did not walk on the Moon?
