No story, just how I make it.
Randy's Boiled Cabbage Dinner.
Going to make it later today (Tuesday)
Use a large Dutch oven style pot.
Fill with about 1 inch of water and warm on LOW heat. Place one stick of standard sized REAL butter (salted) into the pot to melt.
Slice one good sized cabbage into quarters and then cut the core part out of each section. Put the quarters in to the pot whole.
Take 4 or 5 good sized fresh thin skinned white potatoes and cut them into halves or quarters, depending on their size.
Slice up about 5 or 6 good size raw fresh carrots into chunks also.
Put the potatoes and carrots into the pot and stir them into the mixture.
Add, if desired, two to four Bay Leaves and some garlic salt.
Add, if desired (and be sure you want this), one very small onion, quartered.
Add a generous sprinkle of the single most under-rated spice on the shelf, Celery Salt.
Cover and simmer on very, very low heat for about 2 hours, stirring every 15 minutes or so with a wooden spoon.
Serve generously and enjoy with chucks of good white bread and real butter.
You are welcome!
Hope you try it and like it!
