Recently I have published a couple of polls about Adam and Eve and about Atheism. In both polls it seemed like the question of evolution versus creationism came up. Granted in one of my polls I did ask if the reader believed in the literal creation of the universe in six literal, twenty-four hour days and the truth is that question may have been out of place. Let's correct that.
So now the question comes up. Classic Creationism from a literal interpretation of the Judeo/Christian Bible (six literal, twenty four hour days, with the world a bit more then 6,000 years old). Creationism, but with the "days" perhaps spanning millions of years, meaning the Judeo/Christian Bible is an allegory or metaphor and is reconcilable with nature. Evolution only and no participation from any form of god (or Mother Nature), meaning the Universe and everything in it is purely neutral with no intelligent design, meaning the Judeo/Christian Bible is meaningless.
So, boys and girls, what do you think? Is the Bible real? Is it all nature? Was Darwin right? Are they both right? What about other Creationism tales from other cultures? Do they count? Are they all fairy tales or do they all relate in some manner?
I seeded this to politics because a disturbing (in my opinion) number of people base many of their political decisions on the religious beliefs of those they do or do not support. For instance there are those that like Mike Huckabee because he is a minister and then there are those (like me) who could never support him because he believes in the literal interpretation of creationism.
As usual, please don't just vote, comment!
